Giving strength to patients and families

Brí House is our Cancer Care Centre for patients facing cancer. Brí means “strength”, and that’s what we’re here to provide.
This is a place for those diagnosed with and being treated for cancer, and their families. To understand the impact of their diagnosis, to come to terms with it, and to take positive steps forward — guided by people who are expertly trained to help during this monumentally difficult time. The vision for the centre began ten years ago, it’s now open and fully operational, and we’re proud to be able to offer this vital element of support.

No one should face cancer alone

Brí House is the only psychologist-led cancer care centre in Ireland, providing expert support that makes a real difference.
The newly opened centre at 9 Dyke Parade is just a few minutes away from Mercy University Hospital. It offers individual and family therapy, as well as spaces for groups to meet.

The importance of mental health and wellbeing during cancer diagnosis and treatment cannot be understated. The fight against cancer is not just in the body, but also the mind. To support this, psycho-oncology bridges psychological, social, and behavioural aspects of the cancer journey, to provide a holistic perspective on patient care.

This can help to improve patient outcomes, reduce stress and pain, and also offer emotional and practical support for caregivers and family members of all ages.

By using proven approaches to mitigate stress, anxiety, and depression, this support can enhance patients’ quality of life, improve treatment adherence and adaption, and in some cases improve survival rates.

The centre also offers a library with information on cancer and mental health, as well as social areas and a garden.
